
The General Surgeon Dr. Konstantinos Alexiou was born and raised in Athens. Admitted to the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens where he graduated on January 20, 1995 and received his license to practice on March 21, 1995 under the number 10515/95 of the Prefecture of Eastern Attica – Department of Hygiene.
With the 1395/12-7-2006 opinion of the Central Health Council and with the 4414/24-7-2006 decision of the Prefect of Eastern Attica, he was granted the specialty of General Surgeon.
During the period of compulsory education, he attended the work of the Vascular Surgery and Urology Clinic for one year and took part in vascular surgery and urology operations.
During his military service as a second lieutenant surgeon he served as a salaried physician in army units and in the 401 GSNA as an internal assistant taking part in operations.
After his mandatory field service in a barren rural dispensary, he was assigned to the regional hospital Kataphigio of the Upper Country health center of Messolonghi Hospital where he dealt with and dealt with primary care emergencies.
For 15 years, namely from 2006 to April 2020, he gained clinical experience as a Specialist Surgeon at the overall health system performance in the 1st Surgical Clinic of Sismanoglio Hospital of Athens. During this time he performed more than 9,000 operations, small, medium, large, heavy, extremely heavy and special operations. With an emphasis on Surgical Oncology, Laparoscopic Surgery and Emergency Surgery, both routine and emergency, covering the full spectrum of General Surgery, with EXCELLENT annual Medical Staff evaluation reports.

He holds a Doctorate (PhD) from the University of Athens School of Medicine and a Masters (MSc) from the School of Medicine, University of Athens, in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Telesurgery.

Research Projects:
- Experimental protocol in rats carried out at the Sismanoglio Hospital and the experimental/research laboratories of ELPEN. This experimental study was awarded a Commendation by the Hellenic Surgical Society.
- Clinical trial of a drug for the pharmacological prevention of postoperative ileus, conducted by GlaxoSmithKline.
- A registration and observational study of the occurrence of postoperative fistulas in digestive procedures, which was carried out by Ipsen.
- Epidemiological study of the health cost implications of antimicrobial resistance for patients hospitalized with complicated intra-abdominal infections, conducted by Wyeth.
- Researcher in 5 research protocols conducted in the 1st Surgery of the hospital.
- Researcher in a research protocol in collaboration with the Pre-educational Surgical Clinic of EKPA and its experimental and research laboratory

Educational Projects:
As a trainee, he has attended courses of the Hellenic Surgical Society, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery seminars and a training seminar in robotic surgery in Greece and Abroad. He is also trained in Advanced Trauma Life Support (A.T.L.S), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (P.H.T.L.S), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (eACLS) and the School of Applied Health and School of Radiological, Biological and Chemical Warfare and crisis management.
He is a Certified Instructorof the Hellenic Surgical Society, instructor in Basic and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Robotic Surgery seminars, instructor of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (eACLS), Basic Life Support and Automatic External Defibrillation (B.L.S/A.ED) trainees.
He is also a trainer of trainers τin Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation (B.L.S/A.ED) and trainers of E.X.E. He has trained more than 50 people in General Surgery.
Social Work:
Due to his special love for the local population, he offers lectures on blood donation and preventive medicine and participates in the organization and establishment of the Blood Donation Association in the community of Aniksi Attica. He has been recognized with a diploma by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for his contribution to the development of voluntary blood donation and has received letters of thanks and special mention for the treatment of patients.

He was presented at the 25th Panhellenic Surgery Conference and International Forum 2006 and was awarded by the Hellenic Surgical Society with a PRAISE as the best oral paper presented at the conference.
- Honorable Mention for active participation in the work of the 8th Hellenic Cypriot Surgical Congress, in November 2007, in Nicosia, Cyprus
- “Erysipelas and cellulitis of the skin: incidence and etiology. Diagnostic and therapeutic approach in primary care” and “The occurrence of atypical laryngitis as a diagnostic and prognostic factor for GERD”. The papers were awarded by the Hellenic Society of General Medicine with PRAISE as posted announcements at the 20th Panhellenic Congress of General Medicine

Dr. Konstantinos Alexiou has been active since 2020 in the private health sector with a Practice in Marousi, Neratziotissis 15, performing a wide range of General Surgery operations having a special focus on Surgical Oncology, Laparoscopic Surgery,Fast Truck Surgery (Fast Truck Surgery – Enhanced Recovery After Surgery – ERAS) and Emergency Surgery.
